This Year

March 18, 2011

Just thinking about how many movies coming out this year I want to see: Thor, Harry Potter, Captain America, Rise of the Apes, Paul, Green Lantern, Suckerpunch, Pirates of the Caribbean and many, many, more…

Think of Me

March 17, 2011

Today at work I had the Ipod on shuffle and ‘Think of Me’ from Phantom of the Opera came up.  And something struck me as strange.  Christine is singing a song that is a part of the opera she is in.  And then Raoul starts singing about recognizing her as the girl he knew when he was young.  But he sings along to the tune of the song SHE is singing. I might be the only one but that strikes me as odd.  Very odd.  That would be like going to the movie theater to see Grease, waiting until the song ‘Sandy’ comes on and then singing a song about how good the popcorn is to the tune of ‘Sandy’.

First Class

March 16, 2011

I just watched a new trailer for X-Men:First Class (albeit in Russian) and I’m looking forward to it. It’s set in the 60’s and shows the early friendship/partnership between young Charles Xavier (played by the Scottish guy from ‘The Last King of Scotland’) and Erik Lensher (played by the British film critic guy from ‘Inglorious Basterds’).  Not only do we get young Beast and Mystique but incredibly hot Emma Frost and the teleporting goodness of Belasco (who is the father of my favorite X-Man, Nightcrawler). Should be turtleneck-wearing 60’s goodness.

Horror Icons

March 15, 2011

While reading a recent issue of Fangoria it occured to me that there are several actors/actresses who appear primarily in the horror genre that I love.  Here are five favorites:

– Sid Haig- Most notable as Captain Spaulding/Cutter in ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ and ‘The Devil’s Rejects’. Briefly met him and got his autograph.

– Katherine Isabelle- Appeared as Ginger in the ‘Ginger Snaps’ movies and got killed in ‘Freddy vs. Jason’.

– Bill Moseley- Started in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” but shines best as Otis in ‘House of 100o Corpses’ and ‘The Devil’s Rejects’

– Angus Scrimm- Though appearing primarily in the ‘Phantasm’ films, the guy gives me a chill every time I see him.

– Robert Englund- Obviously best known as Freddy Krueger but has appeared in numerous other films.  The man is an icon.

I almost forgot to blog today.  Nothing much to say.  Except that my birthday is coming up and I really hope I get money to put towards a 3ds. Or a Pez display cabinet. Or a framed picture of Johnny Cash giving the finger.
